Where’s a man’s choice in abortion?
Keynote speaker Theo Purington will offer a man’s perspective of abortion when he speaks of his journey from grief over his baby’s abortion to his role as an advocate for fatherhood at the Saturday, Oct. 15th Maine Right to Life Convention in Portland. The Convention is open to the community.
Theo’s girlfriend aborted their child despite his tearful pleas to save the baby’s life. His pain and subsequent healing caused him to become active in the pro-life movement. Today he stands up for forgotten fatherhood by sharing his testimony and counseling abortion-minded dads to stand up for their children’s lives.
Following the abortion, Theo became a pro-life sidewalk counselor outside an abortion clinic. He helped lead New Hampshire’s first 40 Days for Life Campaign and founded Florida Students for Life. Currently Theo is the Executive Director of A Woman’s Answer Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida where he ministers to hundreds of women facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Taxation without exploitation
By Carroll Conley Jr., Christian Civic League of Maine, Citizen Journal, Sept. 23, 2011
I recently watched a video produced by CasinoFreeMass I would highly recommend for viewing (search www.youtube.com for The Sell-Out: How Massachusetts Plans to Create New Addicts to Pay For Struggling State Programs).
Near the end of the video, Taylor Branch appears with a quote asserting state governments’ cooperation with the corrupt gambling industry violates the core of America's democratic principles. Taylor Branch, by the way, is not some fire-breathing pastor preaching against the evils of gambling from a moral basis.
Taylor Branch is the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian of the Civil Rights Movement; he also happens to be the biographer of Martin Luther King Jr. This is what Mr. Branch had to say about the relationship between government and the corrupt gambling industry:

Pro-Life group lists companies backing Planned Parenthood
By Steven Ertelt, Washington, DC, LifeNews.com 9/12/11
A pro-life organization that has spent decades working to try to get corporations to stop giving financial donations to the Planned Parenthood abortion business has released a revised listing of companies backing the abortion giant.
Life Decisions International has released a revised edition of The Boycott List, which identifies corporations that support Planned Parenthood, which does more abortions than any other business in the nation. Kenneth Garvey, the communications director for LDI, says the boycott has been successful over the years.

We can expect referendums until pro-gambling forces win
By David B. Offer, Kennebec Journal, Sept. 13, 2011
There is a good reason that the push for more casinos and slot machines in Maine never seems to end: The potential owners and operators of these gambling halls expect to rake in millions of dollars from the pockets of Mainers.
Pro-gambling forces are willing to spend whatever it takes, time after time, until voters either are persuaded or are just so tired of the fight they say yes. It's also the reason casino backers seek to obscure their motives by agreeing to give a very small part of their profits to causes that may sound good to voters.
That's happening again in the two gambling referendums that will be on the November ballot.
